Split a PDF into separate files by page range
A 200 page bank statement, a scanned book, a combined set of certificates. Plenty of PDFs arrive as one long file when what you actually need is six short ones. Splitting solves that by page range: type the ranges, get one PDF per range, zipped together so you are not clicking download twenty times.
The range box accepts what you would write by hand. A single page is 7. A span is 12-30. Several at once is 1-3, 8, 15-20. The summary above the button spells out how many files you will get and which pages land in each, so you can catch an off-by-one before you commit.
Because the whole operation is a page copy, the parts stay faithful to the original. A split page carries the same fonts, the same image data and the same dimensions it had in the source. Know how your file is handled
The split happens in your browser. Page data is read from the file on your disk, the new documents are assembled in memory, and the ZIP is generated locally, so no part of the document is transmitted.
Check before you share
An encrypted PDF cannot be read until it is unlocked, and splitting works on whole pages only. It cannot cut a single page in half or separate two invoices that share one sheet of paper.

How do I split a PDF into separate files?
Upload the PDF, type the page ranges you want in the range box, check the summary that appears, then select Split PDF. You get a ZIP containing one PDF per range.
What page range format should I type?
Use a number for one page, a hyphen for a span, and commas between them. For example 1-3, 7, 10-25 produces three files: pages one to three, page seven on its own, and pages ten to twenty five.
Can I split every page into its own PDF?
Yes. Enter each page as its own range, or use the option to split at every page. A fifty page document then returns fifty single page PDFs inside one ZIP.
I only need one page out of a long PDF.

Why do I get a ZIP file instead of PDFs?
Splitting produces several files at once, and browsers will not hand you a dozen separate downloads from one action. The ZIP keeps them together. The built-in file manager on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS can all open it without extra software.
Does splitting change the original PDF?
No. The file you selected is only read. The parts are written as new documents, so your source PDF stays on your disk exactly as it was.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The split is carried out by code running in your browser tab. The page data never leaves your device, which also means there is no size cap imposed by a server.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly, because the pages cannot be read while the file is encrypted. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first, then split the unlocked copy. Unlock PDF
Can I split one page into two halves?
No. Splitting works on whole pages, so it cannot divide a single sheet that holds two documents side by side. For that, crop the page twice in the editor and save two versions. PDF Editor
Do bookmarks carry over to the split files?
Page content, links and annotations come across intact. A bookmark tree that pointed across the whole document cannot be preserved meaningfully once the document is in pieces, so outlines may be reduced in the parts.
How large a PDF can I split?
There is no fixed ceiling. Since the work is local, the limit is the memory available to your browser. Very large scanned files are better split in a couple of passes than in one request for fifty ranges.
