EPUB is the standard format for ebooks, which is slightly awkward if the device in front of you has no ebook app installed. Opening the file in a browser removes that step entirely: no installation, no account, no transferring the book to a reader first. Useful on a work computer where you cannot install software, or on a borrowed machine, or simply to check what is inside a file before you commit it to a device.

The reading view does the things that matter. Chapters are listed so you can jump straight to one, the text size is adjustable, and because EPUB content reflows rather than sitting on fixed pages, the text rewraps to fit whatever width your window happens to be. That is the real advantage of the format over a PDF on a small screen.

Two things it cannot do. Books bought from a store with DRM are encrypted against the account and device they were purchased for, so the file simply will not open here, and that is by design rather than a fault. And a fixed layout EPUB, which some illustrated books and children books use, is closer to a PDF in structure and may not render perfectly in a reflowing view.

The reading view keeps your position while the book is open. For a long book it is worth noting the chapter you reached, since the file is loaded fresh from your device each time you open it.

Can I change the font size?

Yes. Text size is adjustable, and because EPUB content reflows, increasing it rewraps the text to fit your window rather than requiring you to scroll sideways.
