PDF was designed as a final format, which is why editing one is never quite as direct as editing a document. There is no paragraph to click into: the file records that these glyphs sit at these coordinates in this font. An editor has to work with that reality, and knowing how it does explains both what goes smoothly and what does not.
Everything you add sits on a layer above the original page. Text boxes, images, your signature, highlights, freehand drawing, shapes, stamps, sticky notes and links are all new content placed over pages that are otherwise left untouched. That is what keeps the rest of the document pristine, with its fonts, bookmarks and form fields intact and nothing recompressed.
Changing text that is already there is the harder case. The old line is covered and the new text is written over it in a standard font, which is seamless on a document set in a common typeface and slightly visible on one using something distinctive. Non-Latin scripts are placed as a sharp image instead of editable characters, so Hindi text looks right but is not searchable. When a document needs extensive rewriting, editing the original source and exporting a fresh PDF will always beat editing the PDF.

Can I edit the text that is already in a PDF?
Yes. Choose the edit text tool and click the line you want to change. The existing line is covered and your replacement is written over it in a standard font, which blends in well on documents set in common typefaces.
Why does my edited text look slightly different?
Because the replacement is written in a standard font rather than the original one, which is often not embedded in a form that can be reused. On a document using a distinctive typeface the difference is noticeable.
Can I type in Hindi or other Indian languages?
Yes. Text in Devanagari and other non-Latin scripts is placed as a sharp image, so it prints and displays correctly. The trade is that it is not selectable or searchable as text.
Is my document uploaded to the server?
No. The entire editor runs in your browser, so the document and every change you make stay on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I fill in a PDF form?
Yes. Existing form fields are detected and can be filled in directly. If the document is a flat scan with no real fields, add text boxes over the blanks instead.
Can I add, delete or reorder pages?
Yes, from the page sidebar. You can rotate a page, drag pages into a new order, insert new ones and delete any you do not need, then save everything in one go.
Will editing reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. Your changes are layered over the original pages, which are copied across untouched, so no artwork is rasterised or recompressed anywhere in the document.
How do I add my signature?

I need to rewrite several pages. Is there a better way?
