Markdown is how a lot of real writing happens now. README files, API documentation, meeting notes, technical specifications, drafts of almost anything. It is quick to write and pleasant to keep in version control, and then someone asks for the document as a PDF to attach to an email or hand to a client, and plain .md is not an answer.
This conversion gives you the formatting Markdown describes. Hash marks become proper headings with sensible sizes, fenced code blocks keep their monospaced alignment and indentation, pipe tables are drawn with real borders, lists nest correctly, and links stay clickable in the finished document. The text remains genuine text, so the PDF can be searched and copied from.
You can edit the source here before generating, which is useful for the small adjustments that only matter in print. Adding a page break before a major section, checking that a wide code block is not going to be clipped, or confirming that image paths resolve. Flavour differences are the one thing to watch: if your Markdown relies on an extension from a particular tool, such as a diagram block or a custom admonition, convert that part to standard syntax first.

How do I convert Markdown to PDF?

Which Markdown syntax is supported?
Standard Markdown with the common extensions: headings, bold and italic, ordered and unordered lists, links, images, blockquotes, fenced code blocks and pipe tables all render as you would expect.
Do code blocks keep their formatting?
Yes. Fenced code blocks are rendered in a monospaced font with their indentation and line breaks intact, which is what makes this suitable for technical documentation.
Are tables rendered properly?
Yes, pipe tables are drawn as real tables with borders and aligned columns. Very wide tables can be clipped by the page width, so check them in the preview before generating.
Will my images appear?
Images load when their paths can be resolved during rendering. Absolute public URLs are the most reliable, and a relative path to a file that is not uploaded alongside the document will be missing.
Can I add a page break between sections?
Yes, by inserting the appropriate break markup in the source before generating. This is the usual way to start each chapter of a long document on a fresh page.
Is the text in the PDF searchable?
Yes. Everything is written as real text rather than rendered to an image, so the result can be searched, selected and copied in any reader.
Why does my diagram block not render?
Diagram syntax such as Mermaid is an extension belonging to specific tools rather than part of Markdown itself. Render the diagram to an image first and reference that image instead.
Is my Markdown file sent anywhere?
Yes. Rendering and pagination need server side tooling, so the file is processed there and removed once the PDF has been produced.
Can I control fonts and styling?
